The Health Festival organised by IAOSB Foundation Women's Club on 8 March International Women's Day was held with great enthusiasm. In the Health Festival, which was implemented in cooperation with IUE Medical Point Izmir Hospital and SADE Polyclinic, free early diagnosis scans, skin scans and information seminars on women's health were organised.
In the information seminars held in Atatürk Meeting Hall of IAOSB Regional Directorate building; Prof. Dr. Şükrü Boylu, one of the doctors of IUE Medical Point Izmir Hospital, gave valuable information on breast health, Prof. Dr. Aynur Solak on mammography, Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Gökçü on women's health and gynaecological cancers, and dietician Sıla Yeşilyaprak on healthy life secrets.
While information seminars were organised on the one hand, on the other hand, breast and armpit ultrasound examinations were applied to volunteers among nearly 600 women who participated in the event where early diagnosis scans were performed. In the screening, 4 women were found to have masses and were referred to hospital.
Begüm Karace, President of IAOSB Foundation Women's Club, said: ‘Our club, which was founded with 100 pioneering women in the 100th year of the Republic, produces projects to support our women in health, education and social issues. Although it has been a short period of 3 months since our official establishment, we have completed activities such as the initiation of a kindergarten construction project in our region, winter clothing aid for children in need in Çiğli Region, Public Education Centre certified English course for women working in our region, and meeting the needs of IAOSB Special Education Application School. We wanted to raise awareness about women's health with the Health Festival we organised within the scope of 8 March Women's Day. We made a difference in the lives of our participating women within the scope of early diagnosis as a result of ultrasound scans in our event, which had a festival atmosphere with live music, gifts, discount coupons and treats on health and beauty issues. On behalf of all women, I would like to thank all our sponsors who supported this valuable event, the valuable members of our Club and everyone who contributed, and I would like to inform you that we will be happy to see everyone who wants to contribute to our women-oriented work under the roof of IAOSB Foundation Women's Club.’
