Cenk Karace, Chairman of the Board of Directors of İzmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone, said that the traffic density in İzmir, which is increasing day by day, can be reduced with the 'Bay Crossing' project to be prepared with an environmentally friendly structure, saving time and cost.
Underlining that the traffic will become inextricable after the opening of the City Hospital, Karace emphasized that it will become impossible to reach from one point to another point of the city under these conditions.
Karace continued his remarks on the subject as follows: “Izmir already has a serious traffic problem. With the opening of the city hospital, the traffic will become inextricable with the arrival and departure of the hospital staff, the patients and their relatives who will come to the 25 polyclinics that will be operational, and the kiosks and similar structures that will be opened around the hospital. Our İzmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone alone has 50 thousand employees coming and going from all over İzmir every day. When the current flow is combined with the hospital, traffic density will be reflected in every point of the city. For this reason, I think that the Gulf Crossing should be realized as soon as possible. If the project, which will incur serious costs, cannot be done with state facilities, a large corporation can be formed or a multi-partner company can be established. Investors can also be found for the Bay Crossing, which will give Izmir a breathing space. We all owe this city a debt. Therefore, if we take responsibility and provide the structure to realize this work, we will relieve the city's cross-city traffic flow on the one hand and the out-of-town flow from Çanakkale to Çeşme on the other. I hope that the Gulf Crossing project, which I think will provide up to 3 times the traffic flow of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, will be realized and the Pearl of the Aegean will breathe a sigh of relief from Çiğli to Urla, from Karşıyaka to Üçkuyular.”
