İzmir Atatürk Organised Industrial Zone hosted officials from the World Bank and KPMG, one of the world's leading audit firms, to receive IAOSB's evaluations on the criteria determined for the Green OIZ Certification process.
Muammer Karadaş, Deputy Technical Manager of IAOSB, and Pınar Çakmakoğlu, Deputy Administrative Manager of IAOSB, evaluated the criteria in question with Gürhan Mamaklıoğlu, consultant of the World Bank, and Riti Samanta, Deputy Manager of KPMG, Apurba Mitra, Associate Partner of KPMG, and Vaibhav Gupta, Assistant Manager of KPMG.
 
If the OIZs that will be included in the Green OIZ Certification Programme, which aims to raise OIZs above international standards in the field of sustainability, meet the 6 preliminary criteria, their certification degrees will be determined by evaluating over 40 criteria in the management, environment, economic and social topics, which are compulsory and subject to scoring.
 
Accordingly, according to the conditions of meeting 40 criteria, OIZs that score 90 points or more out of 100 (environment 39 percent, economic 27 percent, social 24 percent, management 10 percent) will be certified with platinum, those with 70-90 points will be certified with gold, 50-70 with silver, 30-50 with bronze certificate.
 
Preliminary criteria conditions
 
- There is at least 1 company in production in the OIZ.
- All wastewater in the OIZ is treated.
- There is no use of coal as a source of energy production in the OIZ.
- The OIZ is certified by TSE in TS EN ISO 14001 and TS EN ISO 50001 standards.
